The Recipe App quickly provides users with healthy recipe considering various factors like time to cook, ingredients, serving etc..

Project Overview

About Product: Mobile apps to help users to easily find food recipes and how to make them according to the level of gastronomy.

My Role: UX/UI Designer

Duration : 3 weeks

Tools : Pen & Paper, Figma, InVision , Miro.

Summary: As I took upon this task to design a mobile app that must solve a problem at hand and also be able to engage as per user needs in there day to day life after due diligence and a lot of primary as well as secondary research finding where clear that people have a hard time to cook meals when it comes to balancing health and taste.

The Problem: Through our research, we have found the following
1. Finding recipes with a choice of excluding allergic food items.
2. Videos on YouTube are tuff to pause and cook at the same time.
3. Thinking about what to cook everyday.

The Challenge: How might we develop an app which not only solves the problems but also motivates user to eat healthy and transform their diet plan.

The Solution: A mobile app that provides users with access to healthy allergy free recipe without worrying about portion size

User research

Interviews: Interviews: Four people from different age group and lifestyle were interviewed and the findings were somewhat different as I thought would be,  people were more concerned about cooking meals with their own pace and not according to videos on Youtube and people needed new recipes. They were willing to go an extra mile to try and make something new.

Survey- 30 people were involved using google forms and the findings with detailed results have been laid down

Data Analysis

  • From the data collected, we can conclude that the problem at hand is confirmed. Almost 75% of the survey subjects state that they do cook only a small part of them say that they are skilled

  • 43% of people like cooking at home, but are facing difficulty getting from the step where they decide to cook, to the step where they start cooking.

  • 24% don’t have a concern deciding on the meal and more than 46% have trouble deciding on the meal, whereas 28% of people repeat meals or simply prefer eating outside.

  • This data leads to concur that the issue is real. People have a hard time deciding on unique dishes.

  • Most of them prefer to eat home-cooked meals because they can be sure that the ingredients are fresh and can take into consideration preparing them is a time-consuming and tiring activity.

User Persona

  • After analyzing the research, we concluded that people were most concerned with their health, taste, and uniqueness.

  • People would be motivated to cook more if they get new recipes that are suggested and take into consideration their servings and allergies.

  • Based on all this research 3 user persona have been created.

Definition and Ideation

Further brainstorming essential features for the Cravings app, I exercised the “I Like, I Wish, What If” method. This activity inspired discussion for featured innovations that could solve our user’s frustrations with cooking at home. These reviews presented great insight into what consumers either liked or hoped for to fulfill their goal of cooking their next meal. I also considered statements from our qualitative data.

Sketches and iterations

Sketching is an important part of the plan interaction. It acts like blueprints for mobile apps, their help in setting a foundation for your product and discover early on what works and what doesn’t. Below you will be able to find a few rough sketches of my to define the screens and its requirements.

Wire frames

Wireframes are rough sketches of an interface that are often used in discussions with stakeholders to communicate the functionality and to rapidly encourage ideation and iteration. They also help with understanding the requirements at a deeper level, as it helps uncover edge cases.

Below it is demonstrated how a conversion from sketch to wire frame to prototype

As per research people like to check the app first before signing up.

Free word is added in so that people do not get confused while adding allergies

Developing: Prototyping & Testing

I made a conceptual working prototype to after addressing the immediate issues that came up during the research phase.

Style guide for the final stage.
